On our first night in Hoi An, the whole city's power cut at around 8:30. Toni and I found ourselves paying the dinner bill in total darkness and joined the street crowd illuminated primarily by iphone backlights. We were confused until we ended up at the river where hundreds of people were lighting candles to be sent out into the river. This was the only proof we needed to know that we had made it to the most beautiful-magical-wonderful place in the entire world. And Hoi An only got better.
Over the next 3 days we had clothes made, went to the beach, ate the juiciest pineapple, played pool, met the one and only Mr. Kim, rented bicycles, made river wishes and absolutely loved everything.
